The Beck Military Museum at Mareeba has been a landmark for as long as I can remember. It was therefore a shock to discover that it is in the process of being wound up. The founder Syd Beck passed away a few years back and the family have made the reluctant decision to close up the business.
I went there with hunting buddies Mike and Peter for no other reason than Mike was chasing some spare wheel rims for his restored jeep. Even though a lot of the major restored items have already been sold or donated there is still a wealth of interesting aviation, motoring and military bric a brac to be seen.
Following is a gallery of photos I took while Mike was searching (successfully) for those Jeep wheel rims.
If you are a collector, restorer or aficionado of any sort then it might pay to contact the folks at the Beck Museum to see if there are some treasures there for you.
