We only got back home a few days ago after a couple of months in Portugal and Spain. Luckily, we were in time to attend the 100th anniversary of Remembrance Day in the village of Yungaburra, in far North Queensland.
It is only a small community but nevertheless produced a substantial attendance. There was a good local theme to the ceremony with many references to the local families whose names appear on the honour boards.
Yungaburra is far from unique in that regard and today you would have been hard-pressed to find any village, town or city that was not marking the Centennial of Remembrance Day.
Following are some photos from today’s event in Yungaburra.
Lest We Forget.
